Want Extreme Skin Lightening? Check out our Xtreme Brite Gel Review!

by Monica

Xtreme Brite GelHere’s something we’ve been looking for – a product that uses more of a natural approach to skin lightening, rather than the potentially dangerous chemical approach.

Xtreme Brite Gel has many, many positive reviews from people who have used it, and you can find the product at larger shopping markets. We wanted to see how it would compare to the other, top lighteners. How well does it lighten hyperpigmentation, melasma and age spots?

What category does Xtreme Brite Gel fit into among skin lighteners?

There are actually only two types of skin lighteners available on the market today – those that use dangerous chemicals like hydroquinone to lighten skin, and those that block melanin production to reduce your skin’s pigmentation naturally.

When we checked out products including Xtreme Brite Gel, we placed it into the class that bleaches the skin, which reduces skin pigmentation quickly. The problem is that these treatments use hydroquinone, which the FDA revoked in 2006, since it may be a cancer causing agent.

Most lighteners that contain bleaching agents will utilize less than 5%, and this allows them to remain safer for use.

On the other side, you have our Xtreme Brite Gel review, which showed that it uses licorice extract, which is a more natural ingredient that works along with your own body to help in reducing pigmentation. The extract glabridin in this product comes from the roots of licorice.

Licorice extract prevents your body from activating one of its natural chemicals, known as tyrosinase. This lessens the body’s melanin production, and melanin gives your skin its color. So, licorice extract works at stopping the process that colors your skin. Licorice extract doesn’t look great (see below) but it works great.

Xtreme Brite Gel also uses salicylic acid, a natural cleanser, that helps to clean out and then widen your pores, so that the product can be better absorbed. Salicylic acid has been pointed out as possibly being dangerous when used with hydroquinone, but when used with licorice extract, it is safer.

We found a lot to like when we did our Xtreme Brite gel review.

What We Like

We appreciate products that use ingredients found in nature. These will work with your body instead of forcing it to do whatever you want.

This skin lightener is certainly not 100% organic, but it uses a safer process to lighten skin, and it’s a more sustainable progress.

In addition, the product does have a lot of positive reviews. Here are a few from Amazon …

“So I’m back for the review. This product really does work. I saw great results in about 3 weeks. I mean the results were AMAZING!!! But…just as the other reviews said, once you stop using the product the area will darken up again. I gave this 4 stars because if you need to get ready for a special event such as a wedding, a vacation, etc, I think this product is worth it. Also,I tried to contact the company to see if this product was safe for long term use and found that the number on the package does not belong to this company but to another skin care company. The rep who answered the phone said they have tried to get their number removed from this packaging for a while now…so use at your own risk. I hope this was helpful…”
– DT, Amazon.com

“This product is one of a kind. I was a little skeptical at first, but after it arrived and it arrived quickly, I applied it prior to bed and woke up with results. I’ve never had a product that worked so quickly and continues to improve daily. I am African American and my face was darker than the rest of my body. I’ve had the product for going on two weeks and I already see major results. I’d recommend this product to anyone. After a few uses though, be sure to apply moisturizer to protect the skin. If purchased, you will know what I’m getting at. WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND”
– omonte, Amazon.com

“It really works!!!! I had vowed never to change my gel for another because it lightens but after the reviews I thought you know what, its no harm giving this a trial, I did and it changed my mind over my former gel that I have using for years. The good thing about this is, its even cheaper than what i have been using, it smells soo good, is clear, and yet very powerful. I had this dark spot on my elbow for years, my former gel cream didn’t clear it and just after few days of applying this wonderful Godsent gel, my spot are beginning to fade away. I am gonna order more, I really wish they make it in a bigger tube though but for as long as it works, no worries for me. I will order 3 or 4 today. This is just amazing, too good to be true!!!!!!!!!”
– Deo117, Amazon.com

We found that the $12 per tube was a pretty good price, too, especially if you’re on a budget.

What We Don’t Like!

OK, we did discover some problems when reviewing Xtreme Brite Gel. We like the product a lot, but for some users, it has had the opposite of its intended effect!

When you apply it, there is a 20%+ chance that your hyperpigmented skin may actually become darker. What’s that about?

It IS just a 20% chance, so you can take that chance…or go with Meladerm, which has almost a zero percent chance of bad things happening when you use it.

What’s Our Conclusion?

Choosing products like Xtreme Brite Gel is better than choosing the products that use chemicals to bleach your skin. The results may take longer to appear, but it’s safer and more sustainable.

So, we ranked Xtreme Brite Gel as our #2 favorite on our list of the best skin lighteners.

Score: 4 stars !
