If you’ve been waging the war against Father Time for a while, you probably know by now that bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better, more scientific-sounding ingredients doesn’t necessarily mean more powerful, and more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean more effective.
Following those premises, CosMedix skin care is beginning to make its mark on the skin care industry. By blending technology and science with natural botanical ingredients, the brand claims to have revolutionized skin care, addressing all the most common concerns: wrinkles, sun damage, dryness, acne, oil control, sensitivity, and redness.
The brand also claims that their moderately-priced, nature-based products are on par with those pricier ones you’d buy in a doctor’s or dermatologist’s office, without all the harsh stripping and damage some of those products can do to your skin.
But does CosMedix really work? Let’s take a closer look…

Products and Claims
About the CosMedix skin care line, as found on the CosMedix.com website:
Plant-based ingredients are concentrated for maximum effectiveness then refined to compliment the skin’s chemistry while simultaneously remedying the most troublesome skin conditions–from sun damage, signs of aging and hyperpigmentation–without the irritation or downtime of popular, conventional treatments. Providing skin solutions that improve your skin without hindering your lifestyle: It’s a promise we renew every day.
The chemistry may be complex, but the concept is simple: to give you the strongest, most effective tools to help your skin look and feel its very best. CosMedix’s continued innovation and groundbreaking success comes from focused attention to our four pillars: smarter exfoliation, better botanical ingredients, skin matrix support and chiral correction for superior product performance. Here is how it works:
CosMedix is continuously on the search for the best in plant-derived ingredients and pure essential oils. We concentrate these ingredients for maximum effectiveness without the use of artificial colors or fillers. We continue to look to nature first to solve your skin care needs.
- Skin Matrix Support
CosMedix has proven results because the technology we use is not experimental, it’s award-winning. Our formulations are inspired by Nobel Prize discoveries in pharmaceuticals. The essence of this technology, whether it be Spin Trap, Fullereness or Liquid Crystals, has been adopted to use the science of nature to create effective skin care. This refined skin matrix support helps to nourish the skin and provide the building blocks for cell rejuvenation and skin restoration.
Chirality refers to the right-handedness and left-handedness of the molecules in our bodies. CosMedix uses chirally correct ingredients that have been filtered to contain only molecules that positively interact with the skin. This minimizes adverse reactions and allows for the highest concentrations of active ingredients for increased effectiveness. Think of chirally-corrected ingredients like the key that unlocks the skin’s best self.
By gently removing dead and dull skin, the face appears brighter, pores are refined, and fine lines and wrinkles appear less pronounced. When exfoliation is added to your skin care regimen, it stimulates cell rejuvenation and aids in effective delivery of our active ingredients in our skin care. This means optimal penetration and maximum efficacy for unsurpassed results.
Ingredients and Application Recommendations
There are 27 products in the CosMedix skin care line, as found on their website. These include: cleansers, toners, moisturizers, SPF, exfoliants, serums, eye treatments, and masks.
While we cannot list each product, ingredients list, and application recommendation here, the good news is that all of the CosMedix products have detailed ingredient info and application recommendations on their website. In addition to the full and detailed list of ingredients, each product also includes info on the description of that product, the suggested skin type, and a list of “key ingredients.”

Each product also offers tabs for customer Q&A and reviews for that specific product.
The reviews we found on the CosMedix website were mostly all positive, glowing ones…almost suspiciously so. But you know that since we rarely put much stock in reviews found on the product’s own website, we took to the internet.
And… reviews elsewhere online were also found to be mostly positive overall. Across the board on most every product, consumers state that they work amazingly well. Each skin concern was addressed, and even on more serious conditions such as cystic acne and rosacea, people who bought the products claimed they did the job. Those who were using the CosMedix wrinkle products saw overall positive results also, claiming that the mix of ingredients and addition of RetinA proved very effective in exfoliation and appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They also saw improved skin texture and reduced discoloration with continued use.
Of the negative reviews we found, they all focused on three things, no matter what the product. Either 1) the product did not work, 2) the product was too harsh and caused a rash/break out, or 3) they were put off by the smell of the product. A few consumers did not like various pump mechanisms or packaging.
By in large though, there were far fewer negative reviews than there were positive ones.
What did we like? Well, as you know, you can usually tell a lot about the company (and by default, the products) from the website…and this website was one of the better ones, containing info on not just the company, but extensive info on the products. We also liked the fact that you could search either by product or by skin condition/concern. If searching by skin condition/concern, it pulled up all the products that would be well suited for you, including items like cleansers, serums, and moisturizers.
The “In the Press” page on the website included an impressive array of magazines, websites, and TV programs that have featured various CosMedix products.
And, the all-important “Contact Us” page was very complete, listing phone and email info, as well as a physical address (in Atlanta, GA), and international distributers website links.
We love that, judging by the wide array of reviews found online, the products really seem to be effective across the board. Of course, there are the complaints of the products either not working or causing a rash/break out, but that is to be expected with almost every skin care product.
The point is, the complaints seem to be the exception, not the rule with CosMedix. So, when you combine the overall positive reviews of effectiveness, the fact that the company seems to be operating above board (no shady websites), and since the price point is not as high as some other skin care lines, we think that CosMedix might be worth a look for you! Maybe there’s a little hope in the war against Father Time after all!
